Welcome to our latest episode, where we dive into the story behind SAGS Coffee, a special coffee shop located in the St Nicholas GAA grounds in Drogheda, County Louth.

Today, we shine a spotlight on Sarahann and Gary, the dynamic husband-and-wife duo who turned a simple idea during the COVID-19 pandemic into a thriving community hub.

Their journey began with family walks and frequent stops for coffee, leading to the realization that the bustling St Nicholas football grounds needed a coffee spot. With determination, they transformed a small horse box into what would become SAGS Coffee, facing initial challenges like bad weather and low foot traffic. Their breakthrough came with the construction of a shelter, providing comfort for their customers and boosting their business.

SAGS is more than just a place to grab a drink or a bite to eat; it’s about fostering a sense of community. Sarahann and Gary have created a welcoming atmosphere where regulars are treated like friends. This community spirit was profoundly evident when a fire threatened their business, and local patrons rallied with donations and support to help them recover.

From humble beginnings offering just coffee and pastries, SAGS has expanded its menu to include a variety of fresh and delicious items like BLTs, breakfast boxes, and creative drinks. Popular choices among customers include their caramel iced coffee and Pink Lady iced tea, with the shop constantly experimenting with new flavors and concoctions.

One of the most touching aspects of SAGS Coffee is the customer stories. Take Jimmy, for instance, who found solace and friendship at Sags Coffee despite his health challenges. Sarahann and Gary’s dedication to their craft is evident in their approach to making the perfect cup of coffee, from maintaining their equipment to using the best beans.

7.30am – 4.30pm Monday through Friday;
8.30am-4.30pm Saturdays and Sundays.
